Spageddies (Marina Sqaure)

June 30, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Went to Spageddies for dinner tonight. Hmm … Someone please inform me of what are speciality they have? The last time I patronize their stall was in JC. The few occasions I tried their food is the Deep Fried Calamari which I get from Munchie Munkins’ in NUS (which, by the way, is very good!)

The pizza I had was so-so and I think it is still squirming in my tummy. eek!

Fortunately, they had a UOB 15% discount! Yea, for UOB discounts, they seem to everywhere and for everything.

It’s the weekends … which means … I need to catch up on sleep … finish my Madonna DVD … complete the TSP assignment … clean my house (if my auntie doesn’t come! yikes!) … maybe I’ll just sleep. (“,)

Kiss Goodbye – 王力宏

June 29, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Wang Lee Hom

每一次 kiss you goodbye

The road to Fried Mee Swa

June 28, 2006 · Leave a Comment

The road is long, with many a winding turn, that leads us to who knows where …

Lornie Rd … Braddel Rd … Lor Chuan … Boundary Rd … Yio Chu Kang Link … Yio Chu Kang Rd … and a few U-Turns, we finally made it to Kuali Teo Chew Restaurant. This is the place I recommended the last time my dad brought me to eat. Kuali

Their signature dish is the Fried Mee Swa or 潮州干炒面线. Deliciously fried with seafood, bean sprouts and it is not too salty, neither is it too bland.

Fried Mee Swa

Went down to Mohammad Sultan Road after that (this is like my 1st time in many many years) with intention to see see look look Beds (the one beside Rush, according to a friend’s friend). Hmm … Questionable ambience … There was, however, a bed nearby which had beautiful setting and delightful beds as couches for customers to laze in.

Ended up at Brewerks … since it is my 1st time there too, so it really made no difference where I went at all … Had the sample set (2 of them on the menu) …

Brewerks Sample

11 different brew of beer to try from … It goes from light, to dark, slightly sweet to bitter, from Rasberry to coffee flavoured (that’s my own interpretation). Good try … though I drank lots of water to counter the effect of alcohol induced drowsiness that I am so prone to getting.

Final stop for the night (erm … morning) was an impromptu one at Fong Seng to visit the Millionaire in the neighbourhood. Yups! The Millionaire Prata Seller who owns ‘The Cheese Prata’ Shop at Fong Seng.

I’m really going places these few days … cool! How very exciting! I must say that I am enjoying myself very much. (Even if I have to be on attachment to do my HYP … where I get paid … (“,) )

Thanks again for the intro & the gd company!

Time to snooze … though most probably I will be all droopy eyed in the office tmr anyway.

The Wine Company

June 27, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Very nice place at Dempsey Road. It’s very secluded and quite a drive in to the dark roads, but the place is quiet and nice. Quite crowded for a Tuesday night (and according to my brother is packed on weekends)

The wine we ordered … Red … Shiraz … 2003 … spicy …

Wanted the Cederberg, supposed to be good South African wine, but out of stock!

The Wine Company

“You must get lost before you can find out where is it you want to be.”

… by my brother.

Ok, let me take a few months (hopefully within a few weeks also can) to get lost after I graduate and findout where is it I really want to be. For now, just let me peacefully complete my studies, trust in the Lord and … … all will have it’s time and all will fall into place. (Trust me!)

Water not to be

June 26, 2006 · 2 Comments

Wanted to get to school to swim before the weekly meetings, BUT …

1. Forgot to bring my keys to my cupboard and hence, no goggles to swim with.
- Friend advice to swim without goggles and I decided to give it a shot.

2. Reached the pool and saw a whole bunch of students having Orientation.
- Gives up the notion of swimming, too noisy, too rowdy, and too much people.

Looks like this week also no-go for swimming. Try again next week!

Manic Monday

June 26, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I definitely cannot be complaining about Monday Blues today. Nothing blue about today, except perhaps for the blue sky? Woke up on a lazy note, but managed to get up nonetheless. Was suppose to go with a friend to take pictures, but someone say I sleep until so late (but I never, what?!).

Went to my friend’s place and saw ‘historical’ photos which were very nice and cute. Heh Heh! I think you have a different ’sei’ with shorter hair.

Finally tried the Wanton Noodles at Jurong which had been bragged to me for sooo long. The noodle is nice. I really enjoyed the taste of it. It doesn’t have the floury taste and the gravy is yummy. The Ba Chor Mee (with Tur kwa) was also not bad. Gorged like a pig as usual! Burps!!!

Tanjong Beach, Sentosa – Took quite a while to find the right place (detouring at Siloso as well) but finally managed to find it. It was a quiet place and breezy. Not too hot and yupz, good for reading (and thinking.). Seems like quite a lot of couples getting married and getting their Wedding Photos taken at the beach. Seems like a chore to some though …

Beef Kway Teow – The usual kind that I eat at Scotts Food court does not compare to the one at Pulvis Street near the National Library @ Bugis. The soup is good. The gravy for dry noodles is good. The beef is tender and nice. Yummys x2!

Went to the National Library after that to take a look at the exhibition my dad’s company – Eng Leong Medallion – was involved in setting up. Medals of Singapore. This exhibition showcases the medals of heroes of Singapore such as Ms Elizabeth Choy, General Winston Chew, our Minister Mentor and many others. The show case is nicely done up and even explains the process of medal making for the interested. I also was pleasantly surprised by the Digital Art exhibition outside that section. It showcases digital work by disabled people (people who have degenerative diseases) and the works are very good, though abeit sad in nature. Check them out at www.dase.com.sg The works are on Level 10 and will be up till 2 July. The medal collection will be there till September. Check it out too!

Little India in search of Blu Jaz … Went to Little India and my first time there in many many years and I was quite surprised that Singapore still have such flavour and culture on her streets. I needn’t go all the way to Cambodia to see such interesting sights! Little India is actually quite cool, with the little shops, the roadside stalls, etc … Blu Jaz had closed that shop at Dunlop Street and moved to Bali Lane, facing North Bridge Road. Check them out there. The ambience is quite cool. Very advant garde! No live performance that night, perhaps due to the Live telecast of the football match between Aus and Italy (with Italy winnind 1-0).

Parkview Square, the place for the high and mighty and rich … only went to the outside to see see look look and I was very impressed. It was so grand and majestic, it really was a nice sight to behold, especially with all the swallows flying around the building, which according to a friend means good fortune. One day, I shall dine inside the wine restaurant!

Villa Bali @ Alexandra Road – 1st time here … (so many first time, yar?! like I said, what would I do w/o you to bring me to all my first time places?) Very nice anc cosy ambience. Tropical, with lots of trees, cushions, really a nice chill out place. Closes quite early, though … 4 pm to 12 midnight only. Guess they dun encourage late nights for people.

… …

If every Mondays could be like that … (heck!) If everyday could be like that … [how could I earn my keep then?] … (whatever!)

Good Night (Morning!), everyones!

The Beast Within

June 25, 2006 · Leave a Comment

[from Revelation 1:3]
Blessed is he who reads aloud the words of the prophecy
And blessed are those who hear
And who keep what is written therein
For the time is near

[From Revelation 1:7]
He is coming with the clouds
And every eye will see him
Everyone who pierced him
And all the tribes of the earth will wail on account of him

[from Revelation 2:1-4]
Those of you who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan
I know your works, I know your toil, and your patient endurance
And how you cannot hear evil men
But have tested those who call themselves apostles, but are not
And found them to be false
I know that you are enduring patiently
And you have not grown weary
but I have this against you
that you have abandoned the love you had

Wanting, needing, waiting for you to justify my love
Hoping, praying for you to justify my love

[From Revelation 13:1-10]
And I saw a beast rising out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads
and a blasphemous name upon its head
And the beast that I saw was like a leopard
Its feet were like a bear’s
And its mouth was like a lion’s mouth
And to it the dragon gave his power,
And the whole earth followed the beast with wonder

Men worshipped the dragon for he had given his authority to the beast
and they worshipped the beast saying
“Who is like the beast and who can fight against the beast?”
And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words
and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months
it opened its mouth to utter blasphemous words against God

If anyone has an ear let him hear
If anyone is to be taken captive, into captivity he will go
If anyone who slays with the sword, with the sword

Wanting, needing, waiting for you to justify my love
Hoping, praying for you to justify my love

[From Revelation 21:1-8]
Then, I saw a new heaven and a new earth
And I heard a great voice from the throne saying:
“Behold the dwelling of God is with men
He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people
And God himself will be with them
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes
And death shall be no more
Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore
For these things will have passed away

To the thirsty I will give water without price
From the fountain of the water of life
He who conquers shall have this heritage
And I will be his God and he shall be my son

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted
As for the murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars
Their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.”

[from Revelation 22:10-13]
And he said to me, he said to me:
“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy, for the time is near
Let the evildoers still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy
And the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy
Behold, I am coming soon

I am the alpha and the omega
the first and the last
the beginning and the end.”

Amen.

What are you gonna do?

I read the Book of Revelations many moons ago. It was the first book of the Bible that I read because I was intrigued by it. Many moons later, Madonna opens her concert with this narration. Whether it is for Christ or not, she brings a message of 1 God, taking responsibility for one’s actions and having love in the world. I support that!

‘Home Cook’ Nasi Lemak & Dou Hua 豆花

June 25, 2006 · Leave a Comment

The best one I have tasted at home. Think it originated from No. 1 Adam’s Road. It has to be the best … I correct myself … (the best is at Changi Village) Nasi Lemak in Singapore.

Well, to the uninitiated, the Nasi Lemak is served on a Banana Leaf – look a like – plate comes with the usual Coconut rice, Egg, Ikan Bilis (deep fried small fish), sambal chilli and depending on the type of meal ordered, with Chicken Wing, Fish or Otah (or any combination of them).

Chua Chu Kang … the main reason why I know that are is because of my mum who goes there ritually every quarterly to eat at Warren Country Club to spend of the amount which she is required to by the club. This time went to try a 豆花 based on a friend’s recommendation. It is the smoothest 豆花 that I have tasted in my life (thus far, lah!). I used to eat so much 豆花 last time, but this is the best I have tasted. It is almost like Silken Tofu! Glides down your tongue and into your throat! (“,) Nice!
