Quotes

Got one of those forwarded emails (thks mc) … its on quotes … read through it and most of them made sense.
3 of them struck me the most …

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

The heaviest thing to carry is a grudge.

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime!

Watched Charlie and the Choclate Factory … it was an interesting show. As much as people said it was bad, I think it wasn’t bad at all. It was rather amusing, in fact. Nice!

Its monday! Its the start of yet another work week!

1-888-2-CONFESS

October 30, 2005 · Leave a Comment

Hmms … that’s the hotline on www.madonna.com website.

People really call in to “confess”!?!?!?!?!?!? You can actually listen to people talk about their secrets.

Its highly amusing! Its also so true right, people really want their story to be told, but they are all afraid to confess it to anyone except to an anonymous person (like in a phone call you never see the other side, like at church when you cannot see the person you are confessing to, etc).

The truth, I think, can be quite overwhelming to some people.

My dad went back to Singapore yesterday at 12 midnight. His 5 day stint here in Shanghai had been very hectic but I guess it was a worthwhile and productive trip.

Went to KTV yesterday night, or to be more precise, it was this morning. 1 am at Haoledi with mc, yv hx, mh and limin. That was 1 unbelievable act. The next – we all sang till 6 am. It was amazing how long they can sing. I think by around 4.30 am, mc and myself had concussed on the sofa. I think Limin followed suit. So, we came in when it was dark and left in the morning when it was bright.

Slept for a bit before I was awaken up by smses and phonecalls. Ended up not having as much sleep as I think I really wanted.

Watched 2 movies since yesterday – Bewitched and Running Boy (Korean). Both were good shows. I liked Running Boy better (thanks to zj for introducing the show).

I’m not unhappy with what or who I was upset with anymore. Thks to those who were concerned.

“Judge not, and be not judged by others.” Do I pass judgement on too many people? (Judge me not.)

The weekend i almost done. Time flies, sometimes I feel left behind. From the show Runnin Boy, “Go slow and run longer, Go fast and expire faster”. So, I just need to be at a comfortable pace, right?

Toddler’s Creed

October 27, 2005 · Leave a Comment

This is quoted from the “Daily Bread”.

Toddler’s Creed

If I want it, it’s mine.
If I give it to you and change my mind later, it’s mine.
If I can take it away from you, it’s mine.
If I had it a little while longer, it’s mine.
If it’s mine, it will never belong to anyone else, no matter what.
If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks like mine, it is mine.

I never blog for 2 days!

October 26, 2005 · Leave a Comment

oh my, its been 2 days since I last made an entry. I am not busy at work. I was just bogged down with the 1st Finance Assignment. Spent like Monday and Tuesday day and nights figuring out the Finance Topics in the book and doing the Assignment, but eventually, still alot of questions eluded me!

Anyway, my dad came to town on Monday morning. Met up with him for dinner on Monday with Uncle Lim and his wife. Tuesday he went to Zhe Jiang and so did not meet up. Today was able to get time to go bring him around after the morning class at Fudan. Went to Xiang Yang Market to walk around a bit bought Ties! (RMB 10 each). Dinner was at some Chinese Restaurant at Xiang Yang. Food was so-so, but the price was not that cheap. Once again, had Da Zha Xie, though this time the crab was really petite and it cost RMB 45 (female one with more Roe). I guess the most value for money one was still at 88 Restaurant (RMB 25 each, though its for the male one).

Went for a massage with him cos’ he wanted. Ended up I was in pain most of the time because of the massage of the lower back again. ‘Lou Song’ – whatever that was … kept rubbing so hard to “loosen” my muscles or whatever there and its was PAIN! My dad, he was sound asleep and was even snoring very loudly in fact! Still ache! Ouch!
———-

During dinner, I asked him if after 10 months whether he thought I have changed. He said (kind of with alot of influenced from Asiaworks) that I will always be the same … “A Nerd (as will every one be)” Probably only can become wiser or more experienced, but still the same. Quite true, yar? Was discussing about the opprotunities in the future, and what I can do, etc … and I concluded that I still don’t know. Why? I have not found that “Thing” that I am most passionate about.

I told him that there were 3 main objectives of coming to Shanghai:
1. Experience and learn about the business environment in Shanghai (China)
2. Learn about the start up process in Shanghai (China)
3. Explore opportunities in Shanghai (China) that I can go into

However, out of the 3, I think I have only achieved 1. Its not that I have achieved 1 objective, but I achieved bits and pieces of some of the objectives. There was some experience in learning about the business environment in Shanghai, managed to learn abit about the start up process (not enough of course to immediately start one), and have found some opportunities. So, that makes about 1 (combined) objective (1/3 from each of the 3).

Anyway, on another note … passed a whole bunch of books to my dad to ask him to bring back to Singapore. Yea! So, now I think I have reduced my weight by about 10kg already. Phew!

and finally on a “whiny” note … went to school and finance assignment still not fully understandable. Came home and went to cut my hair and ended up with a very bad hair cut. That lady was totally useless at cutting hair. Argh!!! Wanted to nap, but dad was free already, so went to meet up with him instead. Went to Capitaland to meet one of his supplier he is meeting and I bumped in to Charmaine (Still looking good and working Hard, ah!). … and the story lead you back to the front!

SAPB Visit + Uncle Visit

October 23, 2005 · Leave a Comment

Today was a long, but eventful day!

Woke up really early to go to SAPB for the Industrial Visit (Thanks to Yvonne and her committee including renhao, justin, huixian). The plant visit, no matter how mundane it might be has allowed us to find out more about beer brewing, the beer market in China and Shanghai. Good tips from the plant manager, marketing manager and the GM as well!

Games were fun … beer was abundant! I must admit that today is the first time tha tI downed so much beer – almost 4 glasses. Made me feel sooooo sleepy and after lunch, while everyone was starting to get high on singing KTV, I fell asleep on a couch … i nice comfortable couch!

When we finally left SAPB and reached civilization (People’s Square) it was near 5 pm and did not join the gang who were meeting for the SHEN marketing video (glad to know there were alot of good ideas flowing!) but went to Park Hotel (which is the center of Shanghai and they have a stone to prove it. Its actually the hotel that we used to go into late at night to find the toilet which is on the 2nd level) to meet my uncle. He was in town for the night and tmr morning he was going over to Hang Zhou. Joined in the dinner he had with his partner in China – Belle. It was an interesting meal. Had alot of different kinds of people at the table – Hang Zhou, Yunnan, Shanghai, Guang Zhou, Singapore – and you wonde what it would be like if there wasn’t a unfied Chinese Language to allow us a proper communication channel! Chaos! Anyway, had 大闸蟹 for dinner, along with loads of other food! Sooo full still from the feast at APB, the Beer, and the dinner! Lucky after dinner, some of the GZ people wanted to go to the Bund to walk walk and I went to acompany them with my uncle. Walked the entire Pedestrian Street and ended up at Park Hotel and sat for a further session of Coffee … Learnt alittle about different kinds of people in China and of course what my uncle actually does in China.

And I am now, back home … waiting to DL Alicia Keys then I can go sleep .. cos’ tmr got an early morning … going to Tong Li!

Nights Nights!
